Finding the Right Babysitter
By John Hodge, Education Manager, REMSA
Finding someone you trust to take care of your children can be a difficult task. Here’s how to find, hire, and keep the best person for the job:
Where to look
Personal recommendations – Ask your friends, family, coworkers, and others for someone they would recommend to babysit.
Organizations you already trust – Reach out to your child’s daycare, your family physician’s office or places of worship.
Agencies and websites – This may be a better option if you’re looking for someone with specific experience (with special needs children, tutoring, or a full-time nanny). Care.com, SitterCity.com, and NannyPro.com are some of the most popular websites.
Are You on Pinterest?
We are too, and we couldn’t be more excited. We’ll introduce you to hard-working mommies, explore health tips for yourself and your kids, offer gift ideas for that special occasion, and show you why this community is our favorite to be a part of. Join us on Pinterest, share your own health tips, and of course, have fun!
These mommies encompass the work/life balance we women are often juggling – whether it’s work, kids, exercise or just some good ‘ol fashioned “me time,” these women manage to do it all.

Having a Baby
Lauren Sunderland, better known in our community as The Reno-Sparks Mom, got a chance to talk with Dr. Bethel this week and ask him a few of the questions inquiring moms want to know.
Pregnancy isn’t easy. To help women, Renown Children’s Hospital is hosting a free online class, Having a Baby, as part of its Online Health Series. The webinar will be hosted Wednesday, Oct. 3 from noon to 1 p.m. During the one-hour class Dr. Bethel will discuss pregnancy, labor & delivery, what you can expect during each trimester of your pregnancy, including: prenatal visits, healthy habits, vitamins, ultrasounds and more.
